Quaestio: How can we develop stronger arguments for debate?

Classwork:
Debate Unit 3b & 4 Class 203
Global Parliamentary Judge Talking Points
Global Parliamentary Debater Talking Points
Parliamentary Debate Guidelines

Homework Before Debates:
Research your debate topic to find arguments and evidence in support of your position. For Judges, try to gather information on both sides of each debate to better understand the them. I recommend writing on loose leaf or other paper rather than on your official debate paper until you are able to coordinate in class with your group members. I encourage you to print out sources that may be useful to you in preparation. You may also print from the computers in class if you save your sources in an email or on a flash drive.

Homework Before Test:
Age of Imperialism Review

#FlashbackFriday to the last day of school 2018! Epic rap battle between MC Hammurabi & DivineIntervention. My lyrics are recycled bars from the previous year’s talent show. His are straight #off the dome.

Why Socrates Hated Democracy from The School of Life. This is one person’s reflection on one philosopher’s reflection on democracy. It doesn’t mean you have to agree with it. But it’s worth hearing a new perspective on something we often don’t stop to consider.
Aristotle vs Pericles on the Best Form of Government. Both were men of Athens, a philosopher and a politician, with very different views. Let us also remember that Democratic Pericles led the Athenians in the Peloponnesian War to defend their exploitation of the Delian League, and Aristotle, advocate of the idealized Philosopher King who tutored Alexander the Great, who did not perhaps live up to that ideal. Who do you think was closer to the right position? . Copyright Peter Casey aka @globalkhan
