Quaestio: Were the reforms of Atatürk good for Turkey?

PowerPoint: Making of Modern Turkey

Classwork:
How Atatürk Made Turkey Secular
Kemal Atatürk The Father of Turkish Reform

Homework:
Based on the reading you analyzed in class, decide whether you are for or against Kemal Atatürk, and create a propaganda poster either supporting him or opposing him. The post should be made on plain white paper, but should be well-designed and colorful, connecting to several examples of reforms and actions taken from the article. You may, if you like, read the other article as well if you would like more information.

Eight stages of #Genocide. Know the signs. It’s on you to prevent the next one. #NeverAgain
DID YOU KNOW? #EthnicCleansing is not limited to acts of #genocide, and can happen in much more subtle ways. For example, before the death camps, the original Nazi plan to get rid of the Jews was by mass #deportation, and by trying to encourage “self-deportation” by making life difficult for Jews in Germany. However, ethnic cleansing can very easily turn into genocide. We study history to enable us to see the signs of wrong turns by recognizing their similarity with the past. Always keep you eyes open, remain attentive, and MOST importantly, if and when you see things start to go in the wrong direction, TAKE ACTION to correct our course! If you don’t do it, who will? Why else are we teaching you this? Just so you can feel upset? No, it’s because you are the future, and you are the ones who have to guide the world in the right direction. We are all counting on you.
Did you know? 🥖 🍞 🌾 Really shows how important bread was, and still is to many people around the world. In modern developed nations (for lack of better terms), people are trying NOT to eat bread, but for most of history, crunching on carbs was the primary goal of each day. You may have heard the line of a famous prayer, “Give us this day our daily bread...” Not sushi 🍣. Not Chipotle 🌯. Bread 🥖. That prayer is known, interestingly, as “The Lord’s Prayer”. Think about it. 🤔💭 #Bread #Carbs #Lord #Lady #Etymology #AngloSaxon #OldEnglish #LordsPrayer
